What Meditation Really Is (and Isn’t)

Meditation often feels mysterious and out-of-reach. But Adam breaks it down beautifully. Meditation, at its core, is simply allowing the mind to settle into stillness. That’s it. Not about emptying your mind or sitting in silence for hours. Just being. In fact, Adam calls it “an effortless technique to settle the mind, relax the body, and awaken the spirit.”

With 60,000 to 80,000 thoughts a day, it’s no wonder our minds feel muddy—just like a jar of river water shaken up. But when left undisturbed, that water clears. Your mind can do the same. Meditation is the tool that helps you do it.

Why Meditation Works

Meditation isn’t just about stress relief—it impacts every level of your health. Let’s look at a few highlights:

  • Physical: Lowers blood pressure, heart rate, and stress hormones; strengthens the immune system.
  • Mental: Improves focus, mental clarity, and emotional self-regulation.
  • Emotional: Helps reduce anxiety and boosts emotional intelligence.
  • Performance: Helps you get “in the zone” whether you’re working, creating, or parenting.
  • Spiritual: Deepens your connection to intuition, higher self, or faith—whatever that means for you.

In Adam’s words: “Prayer is talking to God. Meditation is listening.”

How to Get Started (It’s Easier Than You Think)

Still not sure how to begin? Adam offers a meditation method that’s gentle, effective, and easy to learn:

  1. Find a comfortable seat—no yoga pose necessary.
  2. Sit upright but relaxed, close your eyes, and take a few deep breaths.
  3. Repeat the centering phrase “I AM” silently to yourself.
  4. When your mind wanders (it will!), gently bring it back to “I AM.”

This technique takes just a few minutes and is an amazing way to settle your nervous system—no music, no apps required.

You don’t need to commit to an hour-long practice to feel the benefits. Even 5 minutes a day can begin to shift your stress levels and mental clarity. Try meditating first thing in the morning before your day gets away from you, or use it as a mid-day reset. It’s about consistency, not perfection.

And remember—this doesn’t have to be a solo journey. Invite a friend to try meditation with you. Or better yet, join a class, workshop, or online challenge. Having support can make all the difference.
